Only took an hour and 15 minutes to cut them down haul them out and load them in the truck.

But it took 3 hours to peel them all.

A mornings worth of logs, cut with a bucksaw, whew was that tiring.

Then spent the afternoon peeling them with a draw knife, nice pile of timber, drying in the sun.

I first made this big one for a 20" x 30" print I just had made of one of my favorite scenic spots, looking south just outside of Natural Bridges NP in Utah.

It turned out pretty good so I started in on some 8" x 10"

I left some traces of the bark on most of them, kinda more rustic, rustic look.

Made the grove in the back side with a rabbiting bit, then chiseled out the corner square.

Rounded over the end pieces, and added some extensions to make the vertical pieces look like they went all the way through.

Then did a lot of sanding and added a coat of golden oak stain.

Using just your basic construction grade lumber for the workbench. Southern yellow pine from Georgia. I picked through the pile and got mostly quartersawn pieces.
THe legs are 3 2x6's glued together. Mortises in an inch and half.
The top layer is 1 inch of ash with 3 pieces of plywood glued under it, to add up to about 3 inches thick.

Need to plane the top flat and make the boards for the 2 vises, and find some leather to put on the faces. Then drill all the dog holes in the top, probably will do 4 rows.

Somewhere between those two telephone poles is an artesian well. either the Government COE, or oil prospectors drilled a test well there and hit a running well. The drove a hedge post into the hole to stop the flow. Many years ago.

Rustic Rocker
Put on a coat of Ipswich pine stain

The plan was to use trees that already had a natural bend in them, to make the arm rests and the rockers. It was almost impossible to match up two rockers that are 40" long. I did match up two pretty decent armrests, but the wood was green, the tenons would have shrunk after I made them. So I took an old dry log and cut out two armrests.

I glued 3 pieces of 3/4 pine together then cut out the rockers. I used a 42 1/2" radius.

Slick Changed the plywood on the outfeed table to melamine. Also got an old desk top and used it to redo the chopsaw bench and added a stop block. Also with the leftover made a drill press table with a second adjustable angle and the lower table for it to sit o. Also used some on the fence for the router table. At the dust collector made a 4 port blast gate.

I made a folding table saw extension and also added a router table to the table saw today. Works great.I also finished piping the second stage of the dust collection to the outside, by way of the Attic.

Entirely made from cypress. All but one log was from a stand of dead trees. They were killed by a brush fire some time ago. Al gore should be proud, ugh.
The rope is definitely a bad idea. Got an idea to recycle some old cable. It should work.

New table saw. Also in the corner, thats not a cabinet, its a plywood dust collector. I got the motor and fan on sale, works great. A board on the inside forces the incoming air straight down then ends, the dust keeps its momentum going down on into the trashcan while the air goes back up and out the top.
Need a few more right angle fittings to make it go outside, its just pointed out the door for now.

Making the mortises for a oriental box of drawers.................................just before I broke the $&%X$#@ bit off. So I had to make the rest of them with the router. Turned out to be a faster way to did it anyhow.
